Newcastle United are interested in signing Rob Holding on from Arsenal, with the Gunners keen to offload him, the Daily Mail report.

Leeds United have also been linked with Holding, but Newcastle are said to be ready to compete with Marcelo Bielsa’s side for the Arsenal centre-back’s signature.

The Gunners are ready to sanction a move for Holding, after they complete the signing of Gabriel in the near future.

Steve Bruce apparently feels that Holding could offer Newcastle quality, as he eyes up bargain transfers.

Newcastle only have a limited amount of money to spend, so a loan move for Holding could really suit them.

Mikel Arteta’s side would surely prefer to raise funds for Holding, but the possibility of a loan move is not ruled out.

The English centre-back’s game time is expected to be limited at Arsenal next term, with Gabriel, William Saliba and David Luiz all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Holding has earned praise before, with Tony Cascarino among the pundits to call him a ‘quality footballer’ on TalkSPORT, but Arsenal need to get players off their books to make room for new additions.

If he was to join Newcastle he could help to strengthen a backline which has already been very solid under Bruce’s tutelage.
