According to le10sport, Newcastle are interested in signing LOSC Lille forward Jonathan David, who is allowed to leave.
What’s the story?
Well, Newcastle are set for a big January window, and they have identified David as someone who can help Eddie Howe in the fight for survival.
Interestingly, le10sport believe the Magpies have already made contact in regards to bringing the 21-year-old to St James’ Park.
Newcastle will be encouraged in their pursuit of the 23-cap Canada international, as le10sport add that a deal is likely to happen in the summer.
However, the Magpies face some big competition from Europe’s leading clubs.
Le10sport believe Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also keen on the forward, who has impressively scored eight goals in 13 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
With goalscoring numbers like that, it’s no wonder David is so in-demand.
Newcastle face more competition from Liverpool

Unfortunately for Newcastle, it’s not just PSG and Inter Milan they’ll have to fend off if they’re to sign David.
According to TSN, Liverpool are also interested in the Canadian.
They believe the Reds have long been keeping an eye on David, and continued to do so even after his €30m (£25m) move to LOSC Lille.

Interestingly, David has been likened to former Liverpool forward Luis Suarez, who terrorised Premier League defences for many years.
It was Smarter Scout who made the comparison, when writing a detailed scouting report on the New York-born attacker.
Keep an eye on this saga, as le10sport believe David is allowed to leave.
