There’s a month left in the summer transfer window and Newcastle United still need a striker.

Eddie Howe has completed the signing of three permanent deals this summer – Sven Botman, Matt Targett, Nick Pope – but the Magpies still need another number nine.

Chris Wood joined during the January transfer window but struggled to be a regular goalscorer and Callum Wilson, as adored as he is among the St James’s Park faithful, isn’t going to be banging in the goals.

Newcastle have been linked with a number of new strikers and now, another one.

According to But! Football Club journalist Ignazio Genuardi, Ludovic Ajorque is on Howe’s radar now.

The Strasbourg hitman has been linked with a move to Hertha Berlin, but the French side rejected the Germans’ latest offer and are holding out for £12.5 million – a figure that Saudi Public Investment Fund could easily reach.

Taller than Erling Haaland

The 28-year-old isn’t a bigger striker than Erling Haaland in terms of profile, but he is height-wise.

At 6’6, Ajorque is a massive physical specimen and one who would certainly cause Premier League defences – or any defence, for that matter – some major problems.

The big man only netted 12 Ligue 1 goals last season from 38 appearances, but eight assists illustrate that he can also create, likely due to his size.
