According to Tutto Mercato Web, Newcastle are ready to bid €20m (£17m) as they look to beat Arsenal and Tottenham to Wilfried Singo.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Newcastle could be about to disrupt the plans of Mikel Arteta and Antonio Conte.

Tutto Mercato Web are also claiming that Torino would like to receive more than £17m for the Ivory Coast international, who is having a fine season.

So far this term, Singo has scored three goals, while also providing four assists from right-back in 27 appearances.

It’s no wonder three Premier League giants such as the Magpies, Gunners and Spurs are all fighting for his signature.

Interestingly, the 21-year-old sees his contract with Torino expire in June 2023.

Therefore, if the Serie A side fail to agree fresh terms with him in the coming months, they could be tempted to sell this summer.

If not, Torino risk losing Singo on a free transfer in 2023.

Newcastle should let Arsenal and Tottenham fight it out

In our view, Newcastle don’t need Singo – Eddie Howe should let Arsenal and Tottenham fight this battle amongst themselves.

Newcastle only recently signed Kieran Trippier to improve their right-back department, a player who Amanda Staveley is hoping will become their new Alan Shearer.

Therefore, Singo would surely be stuck on the bench behind the England international for the next few years.

In our view, the only way this deal makes sense for Newcastle would be to sign the Ivorian and loan him back to Torino.

Trippier is 31 years of age, so if Newcastle are desperate for Singo, they could continue to loan him out until he’s ready to replace the ex-Tottenham man.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen.
