According to Media Foot, Newcastle are now leading the race to sign Tanguy Ndombele from Tottenham, with Everton also keen.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Frank Lampard was considering a move for the £120,000-a-week man when Spurs came calling for Richarlison.
Now, the Toffees have slipped behind Newcastle in the race to sign Ndombele, who Antonio Conte is looking to offload at Tottenham.
The France international has endured a tough time in north London following his £53.8m move from Lyon in 2019.
Ndombele spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign back on loan at the French side, and has only registered 19 goal involvements in 91 appearances for Tottenham.
It’s safe to say that much, much more was expected of the 25-year-old at Tottenham.
Media Foot believe Spurs want to recoup €50m (£42m) for the man who was their club-record signing before the £60m arrival of Richarlison.
Last season, Ndombele made 30 appearances in all competitions, registering six goal involvements.
Villarreal are also interest in signing Ndombele.
Newcastle must beat Everton to Tanguy Ndombele
Despite his struggles at Tottenham, Ndombele would be a great signing for Eddie Howe.
We feel for the Frenchman, as he was forced to watch Mauricio Pochettino receive his P45 at Tottenham just weeks after arriving in England, and he did not exactly see eye to eye with the Argentine’s replacement.

Ndombele had plenty of issues with José Mourinho, and then with Ryan Mason as the 31-year-old left him on the sidelines for the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City.
Nuno Espirito Santo also failed to get a reaction out of him, while no improvement was made under Conte.
As you can see, Daniel Levy did not exactly create a settled environment for Ndombele in N17, but in a different setting, we are confident that the Frenchman will shine.
