Newcastle United are now interested in signing Santiago Arias from Atletico Madrid, BolaVIP report.
Newcastle have raised eye brows in recent weeks with the additions of Jamal Lewis, Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser.
And it seems that Steve Bruce’s recruitment drive is not going to stop there, if the reports from Colombia are anything to go by.
They suggest that Newcastle are keen to sit down with Atletico and discuss a deal for Arias, who looks set to leave Diego Simeone’s side and join a Premier League club.
Atletico will apparently accept offers of £14.6 million for the defender, who has slipped down the pecking order since Keiran Trippie arrived.
Arias is a pacy full-back, who Everton’s chief recruiter Marcel Brands once labelled as ‘perfect’ on PSV’s website.

Newcastle do already have Javier Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin who can play at right-back, but Arias looks like an upgrade on either of the pair.
Indeed, if Newcastle could line up with Arias and Lewis in their full-back slots then Bruce would have some really solid options in those positions.
Newcastle got their season off to a good start by beating West Ham, and will be looking to build on their momentum this weekend when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
