Report: Newcastle now actively trying to sign ‘quick’ striker who ‘runs a lot’

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are now reportedly trying to sign Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

According to The Sunday Mirror (25/6; page 75), Newcastle United have made contact with Sevilla and have asked them how much it would take to sign Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that the striker and his representatives have made it clear to Sevilla that they want the La Liga club to listen to offers for him this summer.

In our opinion, Newcastle United could be able to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla in the summer transfer window.

That the Magpies are actively trying to sign the striker and have already made contact in regard to the transfer fee needed underlines their determination to get a deal done.

Yes, Sevilla are a big club who won the UEFA Europa League last season, but the La Liga outfit do sell their best players for big money.

And that En-Nesyri is open to a move away from Sevilla does help Newcastle in their quest to sign the Morocco international.

The Sevilla no. 15 scored eight goals and gave one assist in 17 La Liga starts and scored four goals in eight UEFA Europa League starts last season.

Former Liverpool and Morocco international winger Nabil El Zhar is a big fan of En-Nesyri, and his previous comments on the striker will surely encourage the Newcastle fans.

El Zhar told Liverpool.com about En-Nesyri in March 2022: “You also have Youssef En-Nesyri. He is a very good player. He caught Covid just before the African Cup of Nations and he struggled with injuries, but he is a very, very good player.

“He is a player who could do very well at Liverpool. He is quick, he runs a lot, he has a high speed intensity, pressing the ball and is always in movements on the pitch. He is a very interesting player.

“He is a very good guy, too. When he came to Leganes, he was like a kid, and he was always listening to advice. He is a quiet guy who respects everyone and who is a great professional.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail have reported that Newcastle are interested in signing Joachim Andersen and have already enquired about the Crystal Palace defender.
