Newcastle United continue to be linked with a move for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen.
According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Feyenoord are demanding around €25million (£22million) for striker Nicolai Jorgensen amid strong interest from Newcastle United.
The Magpies are in the market for new signings in the final week of the transfer window, with a new striker at the top of Rafael Benitez’s wish list.
Dwight Gayle and Joselu have failed to find the net consistently, and with Newcastle just one point clear of the relegation zone, more firepower is needed to keep the club in the Premier League.
Speculation over the last 48 hours has surrounded a move for Feyenoord striker Nicolai Jorgensen, and the Dutch press are continuing coverage of the situation today.
De Telegraaf claim that Newcastle’s current offer for Jorgensen is just €14.5million (£12.3million), whereas Feyenoord are looking for a fee in the region of €25million (£22million), which would shatter Newcastle’s transfer record.
It’s even added that Newcastle are prepared to hand Jorgensen a deal worth in excess of £40,000-a-week, which would double the money he is earning at Feyenoord.
Jorgensen, 27, has starred for Feyenoord since his 2016 move from Copenhagen, hitting 21 goals in 32 league games last season to help the Rotterdam club win the Eredivisie title.
This term, the Danish international has hit nine goals in 18 games, including eight in his last 10, and Benitez will be hoping to push through this major deal in the final days of the January transfer window.
