Newcastle United are reportedly set to fail with moves for Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Danny Ings.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United’s bid for Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge is set to be scuppered by his wage demands.
The Magpies may have won two of their last four Premier League games to edge away from the relegation zone, but manager Rafael Benitez needs reinforcements this month.
Ongoing confusion over the club’s takeover situation means Benitez isn’t clear on his budget, but with Joselu and Dwight Gayle failing to impress, a new striker is needed.

The Chronicle report that Newcastle had wanted to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge on loan, but that move looks set to fall short.
It’s claimed that Sturridge’s wages – £120,000-a-week – are beyond what Newcastle can pay, and those financial issues are set to end Newcastle’s hopes of landing him.
With top earner Jonjo Shelvey allegedly earning £80,000-a-week, Newcastle would have to break their pay structure to land Sturridge for the rest of the season, and with Mike Ashley still at the helm, that doesn’t seem likely.

Sturridge, 28, has started just five Premier League games this season, and may have been looking for first-team football in the second half of the campaign to aid his World Cup hopes, but he seemingly won’t be heading to St. James’ Park.
The same can be said for Liverpool teammate Danny Ings, as the striker was also wanted by Newcastle, but is allegedly set to stay and fight for his place with Liverpool, leaving Newcastle to go back to the drawing board in their search for a new striker.
