According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United are still favourites to sign Kyle Joseph despite Wigan Athletic offering him a new deal.
The Latics confirmed just a matter of days ago that they have offered Joseph a new deal in the hope of keeping him at the DW Stadium.
Yet with his deal expiring at the end of next month, it seems unlikely that Joseph will choose to stay with the League One side.
Joseph is attracting major interest after a fine season with Wigan, hitting five goals in 18 games at the age of just 19.
Despite Wigan’s attempts to keep him, it looks like Joseph will still be leaving, and Newcastle think they’re in pole position for a deal.
The Mirror reported in February that Arsenal, Celtic and Rangers all want to sign Joseph.

That’s pretty big competition for Joseph, and yet Newcastle are still most likely to sign him this summer.
That could prove to be a major coup for Newcastle moving forward, even if he may not play an immediate role at St James’ Park.
