According to The Chronicle, Newcastle are monitoring Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams ahead of a potential loan move in January.
The Chronicle state that the 20-year-old is likely to be made available for a loan move in January, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer struggles to find sufficient game time for the academy graduate.
Additionally, The Chronicle add that Steve Bruce has an excellent relationship with Solskjaer and Mike Phelan, which means any Magpies offer will be taken seriously.
Newcastle have ‘prudent’ scouting reports on the defender, who earns £65,000-a-week at Old Trafford. He can operate at left-back, right-back and also at wing-back.
The Chronicle also state that Southampton are interested in the Crumpsall-born footballer.
However, it is mentioned in the report that Manchester United will not entertain any talk of a permanent exit for Williams, as they consider him to be a genuine star of the future.
The England Under-21 international would be a clever addition to Bruce’s squad this January.
With Paul Dummett still struggling to get fit, Williams would provide cover for Jamal Lewis at left-back.
He would also be able to compete with Emil Krafth and Javier Manquillo at right-back.
The youngster has racked up 40 appearances for the Red Devils after breaking into the first-team last season.
