Newcastle United have made contact to sign Clement Lenglet from Barcelona, according to Sport in Spain.
First move made
The report claims that Newcastle are looking for a new left-sided centre-back following their successful take-over and Lenglet already fits the bill.
The Magpies are said to be working on bringing him in from the Nou Camp in January.
And they have apparently already made the first move to line up the transfer ahead of schedule.
Newcastle’s new owners have only been in place for a matter of days, but their work has reportedly already started.
That has seen Newcastle linked with a whole host of players in recent days.

A quality addition?
Steve Bruce’s side have been tipped to be interested in some of the biggest names in world football, but Lenglet may be a sensible addition.
The Frenchman would likely come fairly cheaply, given that he has barely played for Barcelona this term, and the Catalan club are desperate for money.
Lenglet has featured for a grand total of 95 minutes, with most his appearances coming as late substitute showings.
But he could increase the quality in Newcastle’s squad if he was to join.
Lenglet is a 14-time French international, who is comfortable on the ball, and possesses a decent turn of pace.
A potential partnership with Jamaal Lascelles could be very strong for Newcastle and it will be worth keeping an eye to see how the transfer develops over the coming weeks.
