According to Goal, Newcastle have now made a move for Arthur Cabral, who is also a target for West Ham and Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well, Goal believe Newcastle have made contact with FC Basel over a deal for the Brazilian forward.
Xavi and Barcelona are also interested in his services.
Newcastle are aware that FC Basel want €15m (£12.8m) for the 23-year-old, and are ready to make them an offer close to that figure.
Goal add that West Ham have also made contact with FC Basel over a deal for Cabral, who has a contract with the Swiss giants until 2023.
Elsewhere, it was ESPN Brasil who claimed that Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa have put the South American striker on their radar.
You can see why so many clubs are interested in Cabral.
So far this season, the FC Basel No.10 has scored 25 goals in 26 games, while also providing eight assists.
Newcastle need Arthur Cabral more than West Ham

In our view, Newcastle should be prepared to outbid West Ham for Cabral, as Eddie Howe needs him more than David Moyes does.
The Magpies are far too reliant on Callum Wilson, which is a dangerous position to be in given the fact he’s prone to injury.
Howe needs a new centre-forward to help the ex-Bournemouth man.

In West Ham’s case, they are still yet to see Nikola Vlasic hit form, following his £35m move from CSKA Moscow.
Moyes should probably give the Croatian a bit more time to prove himself, before bringing another attacker to the London Stadium.
