Newcastle United have made the first move to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur, TeamTalk report.
Dele Alli to Newcastle?
Newcastle are one of the keenest clubs to take the struggling attacking midfielder from Spurs in January, and they have launched an enquiry to see what sort of deal Tottenham would be looking for in the new year.
It seems that Spurs are open to loaning out Alli next month, as the 25-year-old looks to revive his career.
Alli has struggled badly in recent seasons for Tottenham under numerous different managers.
Antonio Conte now seems to have no plans to reintroduce Alli into his starting line-up, with Newcastle apparently keen to provide him with the platform to play more regularly.
If Alli was to show his very best form at St. James’ Park then he is exactly the sort of player who could drag the Magpies away from danger.
Alli was once considered to be one of the very best goalscoring midfielders in the Premier League.
He netted 22 goals in all competitions back in 2016/17, when he was just a teenager.
But his form has been declining ever since, and he has just five goals in his last 42 appearances for Tottenham now.

Lazy or not?
Jose Mourinho called Alli ‘lazy’ during his time at Spurs manager, but the midfielder actually hasn’t really shown that side to his game publicly.
He did extra training over the summer and insists that he demands the very best of himself.
He would, therefore, arrive at Newcastle with a point to prove and that could benefit Eddie Howe’s men.
At his best, Alli could very well be Newcastle’s most talented player if he was to join.
But there would have to be a sudden up-turn in his performance levels if the loan deal was to work out for Howe’s side.
Newcastle apparently do want a clause inserted into the deal which would allow them to buy Alli permanently, which shows that they see the value in him over the long-term.
And a fresh start looks the best option for Alli right now, as he looks to revive a career which has declined at an alarming rate.
