Newcastle United have made a decision regarding Tim Krul’s future ahead of their return to the Premier League.
According to a report from the Chronicle, Newcastle have informed Tim Krul and two of his Magpies teammates that they will need to find a new club this summer.
The Magpies are preparing for their return to the Premier League this summer. But while the supporters would perhaps prefer Rafa Benitez to make some further signings, it appears that Newcastle are also working on removing some of the unwanted members of the squad.

The Chronicle reports that Krul, Henri Saivet and Achraf Lazaar have all been told that they do not feature in the plans in the coming season and thus, need to seek moves away from St James’ Park.
While it is arguably no surprise that the path has been left clear for both Saivet and Lazaar to move on, the decision on Krul’s future is perhaps more difficult to understand.
Though injury and loan spells back in the Netherlands have contributed to Krul not appearing in a competitive game for the first-team since 2015, he had previously played more than half of Newcastle’s Premier League games in a single campaign five seasons in a row.
And with there being no particular gulf in quality between the 29-year-old and Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot, it perhaps seems an odd move to tell Krul that he is free to move on.
