However, it is claimed that Newcastle United have yet to make an official approach for Martinez.

Newcastle United have made contact with intermediaries of the Belgium manager, Roberto Martinez, according to the Sun.
And the newspaper claims that while an official approach has yet to be made to the Belgian FA, sources there ‘fear the worst’ over Martinez’s future.
Newcastle, who are without a manager after Rafa Benitez chose not to renew his contract, are also said to be interested in the Manchester City assistant coach, Mikel Arteta.
However, the Sun adds Arteta may be harder to prise away than his fellow Spaniard, Martinez.

Martinez previously managed Wigan Athletic and Everton in the English Premier League, and the newspaper claims the lure of a return with a club the size of Newcastle could prove too much.
The 45-year-old is under contract with Belgium until the end of next summer’s European Championship.
But a positive response from his representatives is likely to see Newcastle step up their interest.
Would Martinez be a good appointment for Newcastle?
