Newcastle United are looking to make Marcelo Brozovic their first big name summer signing, the Irish Sun report.

Brozovic to Newcastle?

Brozovic’s contract at Inter Milan is due to expire at the end of the season, and Newcastle view him as a potential bargain signing.

The midfielder has a wealth of experience at the top level and has played in a World Cup final.

He has previously been called ‘incredible’ by Roberto Mancini in FourFourTwo, who was a major fan of the Croatian.

At Newcastle he could inject far more quality, and it seems that the club are already working hard to get the deal over the line.

Contact made

Newcastle are said to have made contact in advance to see whether he would be keen on a move to Tyneside.

Brozovic apparently would be happier staying in Inter, but whether the wages on offer and the lure of a new project at St. James’ Park could tempt him away from Italy remains to be seen.

If Newcastle are to sign a player of Brozovic’s calibre next summer, it seems almost certain that they will have to keep their Premier League status.

The Magpies are in 19th place in the current standings, four points adrift of safety, and if they were to drop into the Championship that would surely scupper any potential deal.
