Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is looking to make three signings before Monday’s deadline with multiple enquiries made to clubs, the Athletic say.
Newcastle are known to be chasing Hamza Choudhury of Leicester City, but Bruce does not want his side to stop there.
Although the Magpies do not have the funds to bring in players on permanent deals, they have apparently made contact with numerous clubs to gauge the availability of a sizeable amount of players.
As well as Choudhury, Newcastle also want to find an attacking midfielder and a versatile defender before the deadline, but doing so could be easier said than done.
With the Premier League season so congested, many clubs are keen to keep their fringe players around.
But Newcastle are still hoping that some opportunities could arise, especially as so many clubs know of their determination to land players now.

Bruce’s desire for fresh blood is understandable, given his side’s form in recent weeks.
Newcastle have slipped right down into a relegation fight, and may need the boost of a few new signings to boost morale, after such a difficult run of results.
