According to reports from the Independent, Newcastle United made a late enquiry to sign Malaga starlet Sandro Ramirez.
The 21-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to Everton, but it seems Newcastle have taken up an interest in him as well.
And why should they not? The former Barcelona academy player has shone since leaving the Camp Nou, scoring 14 goals in La Liga this season.
His impressive form this season will make it almost impossible for Malaga to keep hold of him. Furthermore, his £5.1 million release clause leaves him an easy target for top Premier League clubs.

However, it seems that the Magpies have moved a bit too late.
Everton believe they have beaten other potential suitors in the race for the exciting young La Liga forward. According to reports from The Times, the Toffees have even reached personal terms with the Malaga starlet.
Ronald Koeman, the Everton manager, paid a visit to La Rosaleda last weekend to watch the young forward in person, and met with the player’s agent.
La Liga club Sevilla are reportedly pushing hard for his signature, but it seems the youngster is heading to the Premier League instead.
