Newcastle United have been linked with a simply staggering move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Kai Havertz.
BILD’s chief football writer Christian Falk has suggested that Newcastle are interested in Havertz, as they eye up potential signings for the summer.
For Newcastle to complete such a deal they would surely have to see their takeover go through.
The Independent have claimed that Havertz could cost as much as £80 million to buy this summer, which would smash Newcastle’s transfer record.
If the Magpies were to bring the German international to St. James’ Park it would be a hugely eye catching signing though.
Havertz has developed a reputation as one of the very finest young talents in European football, and he has smashed in 15 goals in 38 games for Leverkusen this term.
At the age of 20, Havertz has shown a clinical finish and excellent technical ability.
His arrival at Newcastle would really announce the North East side’s ambition, although any transfer does seem unlikely at this current stage, with the Magpies’ potential new owners not even approved by the Premier League yet.
