Newcastle United and West Ham United could be involved in a striker merry-go-round.

Newcastle United and West Ham United may well be in the market for new strikers this summer, but their plans may just overlap.
The Magpies only have Salomon Rondon on loan, whilst Joselu is expected to go this summer, whilst West Ham quartet Andy Carroll, Lucas Perez, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez have all been linked away.
Starting with West Ham, one of their big January moves involved Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata, with Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that a huge €40million (£34million) bid was rejected.
Zapata, 27, has hit 17 goals in 28 Serie A games this season as well as picking up five assists, and could add a dynamic force to the West Ham attack.
Calciomercato now note that Zapata could still head to the Premier League this summer, which would certainly make West Ham the favourites for his signature.
If West Ham do tie up that deal, it may have a negative impact on Newcastle, who are interested in Napoli’s Roberto Inglese according to The Chronicle.

Inglese is currently on loan at Parma, and having hit eight goals this season, Calciomercato claim the Italian is being lined up by Atalanta as a replacement for Zapata.
Newcastle may well be hoping for a turnaround, either from West Ham or Atalanta, with Rafael Benitez and co needing to work smartly in the transfer market given their budget restrictions.
