Newcastle United and Liverpool are reportedly chasing Hartlepool kid Connor Simpson.
The report claims that both Liverpool and Newcastle are “leading the chase” for the 17-year-old striker, who has been dubbed as the new Andy Carroll.
The youngster plays for League Two side Hartlepool and is yet to sign a professional deal at the Victoria ground.

Needless to say, the scouts must have seen special talent in him, and that is why he is already being targeted. The youngster’s bustling style has seen him likened with West Ham striker Carroll.
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has stressed the need to add more players to his squad. The Magpies have already signed five players, but the Spaniard wants more depth and quality in the side.
Liverpool have remained busy in the transfer market as well, but one feels that Jurgen Klopp needs to add more bodies, especially in the defence sector.
In any case, if either of the two clubs sign the youngster, they would see him as a player for the future.
