Newcastle United are reportedly battling Middlesbrough in the race to sign West Ham United goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Newcastle are in the driving seat in the battle with Middlesbrough for West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph.
The Mirror reports that the Magpies are battling Boro for the Republic of Ireland international’s signature after the Hammers’ loan acquisition of Joe Hart saw him become available this summer.

The Irons are prepared to let the 30-year-old – who made 22 Premier League appearances last season – move on for a fee of £2.5 million, according to the Mirror, and that appears to have attracted the attention of Garry Monk and Rafa Benitez.
While it is Middlesbrough who have made a bid – that has been rejected – for the former Birmingham City stopper, the Mirror suggests that the prospect of remaining in the top flight has left Newcastle in pole position to be the ones to complete a deal.
It has been a frustrating summer for Benitez’s men so far, especially in the goalkeeping department, with the Mirror reporting that they have missed out on Willy Caballero and Pepe Reina, so landing Randolph may perhaps lift some of that disappointment.
Randolph has done well during his time with the Hammers so may prove to be an extremely decent addition if he joins Newcastle and the Mirror’s suggested asking price proves to be correct, and may also help to push and bring the best out of the cluster of goalkeepers already at St James’ Park.
