Newcastle United have reportedly had a £34m bid rejected by Leeds United for the signing of Jack Harrison, with the Whites setting a £40m asking price for the English winger.

According to Foot Mercato, the Toon have had an offer shot down by the Yorkshire side for Harrison, who has been linked with a move to Newcastle for the majority of the summer as Eddie Howe looks to bring the former Manchester City talent to St. James Park.

Harrison has played a huge role in Leeds’ recent Premier League squad with Marcelo Bielsa bringing the former Manchester United academy star to Elland Road on loan for three seasons before making the deal permanent in 2021, with the attacker establishing himself as a consistent performer in the English top-flight.

Indeed, Harrison has been linked to some Premier League clubs over the years, yet links to Newcastle his summer have been the strongest indicator yet that the 25-year-old winger could leave Leeds to sign for the Toon, who are eager to bring the former New York City FC superstar to the northeast.

With ten goals in all competitions last season for Leeds, Harrison has been one of the club’s most reliable sources of goals in the Premier League, yet with Newcastle making such a big offer for the wide-player, the Whites could be tempted into a sale this summer.

Although Harrison has been a huge part of Leeds’ return to the Premier League, a £40m offer for the Stoke-born player would be too good to pass up, and Jesse Marsch could use those funds to further improve his squad ahead of the new season, which could do with some more added quality.

After scoring in the last game of the season to keep Leeds in the Premier League, Harrison will always have a special place at Elland Road for his clutch contributions to the Whites, however, if Newcastle make a £40m offer for the former MLS star, the bid is simply too good to turn down.

Indeed, £40m could not only help Leeds find a replacement but also leave enough spare change to improve other areas of the squad that could do with being bolstered ahead of the new season, and for Harrison, a move to Newcastle could be an enticing one for the 25-year-old winger.
