According to the Chronicle, Newcastle are keen to bring Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury to St James’ Park before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Steve Bruce openly admitted that the 7-cap England Under-21 international is a player he likes.
The Chronicle quote him as saying: ‘He’s somebody we’ve liked, and it’s been reported. I’m never going to speak about anybody else’s players, I think that would be wrong. But he’s somebody that we do like, yes.’
The Magpies are looking to seal a loan deal for the 23-year-old, who is struggling for game-time under Brendan Rodgers.
So far this season, Leicester’s No.20 has only started one Premier League game, while he’s also made two appearances from the bench in England’s top-flight.
It seems as if Bruce has buried the hatchet between him and Choudhury, seeing as he’s trying to sign him.

What hatchet, you might ask?
Well, in 2019, the Magpies boss clashed with the Leicester man – who earns £7,500-a-week – after he committed a brutal challenge on Matt Ritchie.
As the Guardian detailed, Bruce called it a ‘horror challenge’ before Choudhury said that people are quick to forget how the ex-Sunderland boss used to play.

Unimpressed by the remark – according to the Guardian – Bruce retaliated by saying he never went over the top of the ball.
The Guardian add that Bruce was left ‘raging’ after Choudhury was only booked for the challenge, instead of seeing red.
So, if the pair are reunited before the window slams shut, it will be interesting to see how they get on, and also what Ritchie thinks of his arrival.
