According to Tutto Mercato Web, Newcastle are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa, with West Ham also keen.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet believe Eddie Howe has set his sights on the 13-cap France international, who David Moyes is also eyeing.

Kurzawa has made just one appearance for PSG this season, and he seems surplus to requirements under Mauricio Pochettino.

Tutto Mercato Web believe Lazio and Maurizio Sarri are also trying to sign the 29-year-old, who earns €4m-a-season (£3.4m).

The Italian news outlet warns Sarri of Newcastle’s riches, which suggests the Magpies are serious contenders to sign Kurzawa thanks to their finances.

It comes after Foot Mercato revealed that West Ham are interested in the defender, who is having to watch from the sidelines as Nuno Mendes makes the left-back spot his own.

What could Layvin Kurzawa bring to Newcastle or West Ham?

Whoever lands the Frenchman will be getting a player of great pedigree, even if he’s currently finding things tough at the Parc des Princes.

Kurzawa has won 18 trophies throughout his career, including four Ligue 1 titles with the Parisians.

Interestingly, he also holds a record in the Champions League.

Back in October 2017, Kurzawa became the first defender to score a hat-trick in the Champions League when he netted three goals in a 5-0 win over Anderlecht.

Even to this day, no other defender has managed to score a hat-trick.

Keep an eye on this saga, as it seems likely that Pochettino will sell Kurzawa if an attractive offer arrives in PSG’s inbox.
