According to Italian newspaper Leggo, Newcastle United are in the race to sign Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez this summer.
Newcastle’s takeover still hasn’t gone through, with the £300million Saudi-led consortium still waiting for the green light on their takeover.
That means Newcastle may struggle to put any transfer plans in place for the summer, but they continue to be linked with new signings.
Goalkeeper Lopez is the latest name to be added to the list. This report from Italy claims that Newcastle like the Spaniard, and could move for him this summer.
Calciomercato recently claimed that Chelsea and West Ham United want Lopez, whilst Tottenham are keen to re-sign him – three years after he left the club.
Lopez spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Tottenham, but they didn’t pursue a permanent deal as he returned to Espanyol.

He has since starred with Betis and Roma, and the 25-year-old could end up heading back to England with four clubs now thought to be interested.
Newcastle already have an impressive first-choice goalkeeper though, and it’s hard to see them splashing €40million (£35million) on another stopper, even if their takeover finally goes through.
