Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport claim Newcastle have joined Arsenal in the race to land Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala on a free transfer. The report claims both English clubs ‘have moved’ to sign the Argentine ace.
Dybala, 28, has so far turned down any advances from Juventus to extend his contract – despite remaining a crucial part of Max Allegri’s side. Indeed, he has scored 13 goals and laid on six assists in 30 appearances this season.
The ex-Palermo man has even captained Juventus in 16 of his 30 games. But a new deal looks unlikely, and a move is expected come June. Foreign clubs can already approach Dybala on a pre-contract agreement.
That appears to be what Arsenal and Newcastle have done, though they are trailing Inter Milan in the race for Dybala – who could have to replace Lautaro Martinez. Diego Maradona once branded Dybala a “phenomenon”.

Newcastle are also said to have made an enquiry to land Memphis Depay from Barcelona – with the Dutchman out of contract in 2023. In a similar way, Dybala or Depay would be the face of Newcastle’s new era.
Both have that big-name calibre, that winning reputation, that elite, top-tier standing that would galvanise and excite an entire fanbase. Dybala has earned himself the tag of a Juventus icon, as he approaches 300 games.
In that time, he has scored 113 goals, created another 48 and won five Serie A titles. If Newcastle sign Dybala, fans will be in meltdown.
