French newspaper L’Equipe claim Newcastle have increased their offer for Bruno Guimaraes by £9.5million to a package worth £43million. Now, it is believed a deal is ‘close to succeeding’ ahead of Monday’s deadline.
Bruno, 24, has been in excellent form since joining French side Lyon in January 2020. Clocking up 71 appearances in all competitions, the midfielder has broken into Brazil’s national side – and Newcastle are keen.
An initial offer was made, worth £33.5million. There had been talks over a deal, and the make up of that offer considered a stumbling block. But French newspaper L’Equipe claims a new offer has been made.
Indeed, Newcastle have now tabled an offer worth £43million – £35million up front and £8million in add-ons. It is an increase of £9million and that deal is now set to secure the midfielder – with a deal ‘close to suceeding’.
Newcastle increase Bruno offer: Brilliant signing, despite increase
The move is yet to receive a response from Lyon but it is believed to be deemed enough money for the French club to accept. While it is a bigger fee for Newcastle to pay, it is still a move that they simply have to secure.
Still only 24, he is a massive improvement on the club’s current midfielders and offers Newcastle a long-term part of their project. He would be a superb signing for the Toon – even if he is going to cost north of £40million.
