According to The Times, Newcastle have opened talks to sign Joe Willock on another loan deal from Arsenal, after his stunning efforts in 2020/21.

What’s the story?

Well, the 21-year-old enjoyed a fantastic time on Tyneside in the second half of last season.

Willock remarkably scored eight goals in 14 Premier League outings, including seven in seven consecutive games towards the end of the term.

In total, he has nine goals in 54 Premier League appearances.

His form made him a hero at St James’ Park, and The Times believe Steve Bruce has personally asked about taking the midfielder back on loan.

Willock is keen to make it at Arsenal, and is involved in the club’s pre-season preparations as things stand.

Mikel Arteta is yet to make a definitive decision on the England Under-21 maestro, as Arsenal and Newcastle continue to hold talks.

Is another loan worth it in the long-term?

Of course, Newcastle would love to have Willock back, and we’re sure he’d be able to pick up right from where he left off should he return.

However, in our view, all this move would do is paper over the cracks at Newcastle.

If Willock does enjoy more success at Newcastle, Arsenal will surely want him to stay in north London for good.

Then what will Newcastle do?

It’s time Bruce found his own Willock, with the help of the club’s recruitment team, or from the academy.
