Newcastle United are hoping to offer Hirvng Lozano a fresh start at St James’ Park, with TodoFichajes reporting that Steve Bruce’s side have entered talks with Napoli over a deal for the £44 million bench-warmer.
Football is a fickle mistress. Just ask Lozano.
A year ago, a Mexican international who scored goals for fun at PSV and inspired a famous victory over Germany at the 2018 World Cup found himself in the crosshairs of many a European giant. These days, however, he is collecting dust on the Napoli bench with his reputation taking a battering in Italy.
Lozano has started just eight Serie A matches for the Partenopei with the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, and subsequent arrival of Gennaro Gattuso, doing the speedy forward no good whatsoever.
A move to England now appears to be on the cards for a man whose explosive pace and direct style makes him the perfect fit for life in the Premier League. West Ham, Everton and Wolves have been linked although, according to reports, it is now Newcastle who are at the front of the queue.

TodoFichajes claims that the Tyneside giants have entered advanced negotiations, with Napoli fully aware that they will probably have to sell for a rather sizeable loss.
The problem is, however, that Newcastle will have to wait until that much-mooted takeover has been completed before they can move to the next stage. Mohammed Bin Salman’s billions threaten to make the sleeping giants one of the richest clubs on planet earth, although red tape continues to hold up the deal.
