Newcastle United are hoping to sell Rolando Aarons before Friday’s transfer deadline with Huddersfield Town in talks with the winger, according to the Mail.
It is six years since a teenage Aarons ripped Manchester City’s defence to shreds on their own Etihad soil during an impressive 2-0 away win in the EFL Cup.
At the time, Newcastle fans must have wondered whether they had something rather special on their hands. But then came the injuries – the never-ending, relentless series of injuries.
Flash forward to the present day and Aarons has just five league starts in Newcastle colours under his belt. The now-24-year-old has not even made an appearance in those iconic black and white stripes since December 2017.
And with his contract due to expire in the summer of 2021, Newcastle are hoping to finally find a buyer for their one-time wonderkid as they look to avoid losing him for absolutely nothing.

The Mail reports that Huddersfield are in talks over a deal that would see Aarons, who helped Wycombe Wanderers win promotion to the Championship last season, return to the Football League.
The Terriers will not be short of cash with star striker Karlan Grant joining West Brom for £15 million, although it is hard to imagine that a deal for Aarons would take up a sizeable chunk of that windfall.
If he can stay fit, Aarons could be an inspirational presence in a Huddersfield side lacking a creative spark. But that is a big ‘if’.
