Swansea want to sell Modou Barrow this month, but Newcastle only want to take him on loan.
According to Sky Sports, Swansea City want a fee of £7million in order to sell winger Modou Barrow, and they’re reluctant to loan him out to Newcastle United.
In the summer of 2014, Swansea swooped to land Barrow from Swedish side Ostersunds, but they eased him into English football slowly, sending him out on loan to Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers in 2015.

Now, the 24-year-old has become a first-team player for Swansea, making 18 Premier League appearances this season whilst notching two assists, flashing some real ability out wide for the Swans.
However, with Luciano Narsingh signed this month, Barrow’s playing time may take a hit, and he’s been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United this week.

Sky Sports report that Newcastle do indeed want to sign Barrow, but would prefer to take him on loan – and Swansea have other ideas, as they would rather sell him before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, rather than loan him out again.
It’s stated that Swansea would want a fee of £7million in order to sell Barrow this month, and it’s unclear whether Newcastle would be prepared to pay that kind of money.
Rafael Benitez clearly wants a winger, but it seems that Newcastle want to take a wide man on loan and then re-asses the situation in the summer, when the Magpies will hope to be planning for the Premier League season.
Offering a loan deal with an option to purchase for £7million could tempt Swansea into doing business, but the disagreement between the two clubs mean that time is running out on a potential deal to send Barrow to St. James’ Park.
