Newcastle United are hoping to agree contracts with Javier Manquillo and Andy Carroll in the near future, according to the Northern Echo.
Both Manquillo’s and Carroll’s current deals expire at the end of the month, and Newcastle are yet to offer them long-term deals.
The Magpies owner Mike Ashley has been loathed to offer new contracts to players while his own future at the club is uncertain.
Carroll and Manquillo could be kept around at Newcastle at least until the end of the current campaign though.
Newcastle are apparently hoping that the pair will sign short-term deals with them in the near future to keep them at the club for the remainder of the campaign.

Carroll and Manquillo have both featured infrequently for Newcastle this term, but they do offer Steve Bruce’s side cover up-front and at full-back.
If either of the pair were to depart before the end of the campaign it could be a blow to Newcastle, as it would significantly reduce the options available to Bruce.
Newcastle are currently in 13th place in the Premier League table, and take on Sheffield United in their first game after the restart.
