According to The Mirror, Newcastle United are now hoping to sneak in and win the race for Marseille defender Boubacar Kamara amid interest from Liverpool.
The Magpies won’t have a huge budget this summer; Mike Ashley is will in charge and a takeover doesn’t look to be happening any time soon.
Manager Steve Bruce is having to look for potential bargains, and one player he allegedly fancies is Marseille ace Kamara.
The 21-year-old has less than a year left on his contract, and Newcastle are now sensing a bargain at around £15million.
It’s claimed that Liverpool and Manchester City have both had a close look at Kamara, but are yet to make a move – giving Newcastle hope of sneaking in.
Capable of playing as a centre back or holding midfielder, Kamara has major potential and his resale value is surely appealing to Ashley.

Former Marseille teammate Rolando called him a ‘phenomenon’, and Kamara may now be ready to leave his hometown club for a big move to England.
Newcastle isn’t quite as lofty as Liverpool or Manchester City, but he has a greater chance of playing first-team football there and should absolutely consider the move having seen compatriot Allan Saint-Maximin thrive there.
