Newcastle United continue to pursue Allan Saint-Maximin.

According to the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United are hoping to sign Nice winger Allan Saint-Maximin in the next 48 hours.
The Magpies smashed their transfer record on Tuesday, splashing the cash to sign Hoffenheim striker Joelinton on a six-year deal.
Now though, Steve Bruce will be in the market for a wide man, and links to Nice talent Saint-Maximin have re-emerged throughout the week.
The Shields Gazette now claim a deal could be done by Friday, with Newcastle officials out in France to secure the 22-year-old’s signature.
A bid of £20million will be enough to land Saint-Maximin, who hit six goals and five assists in Ligue 1 last season, whilst catching the eye with his blistering pace.
The Frenchman hasn’t quite developed as expected since his days with Saint-Etienne and Monaco, and whilst he’s a potentially exciting signing, there is a real risk involved too.

Now, Newcastle boss Bruce has had his say on the matter, telling Sky Sports that Saint-Maximin is a target for the club, but wouldn’t be drawn on how imminent a move is.
It’s claimed that two bids have been rejected for Saint-Maximin, and Newcastle will hope to iron out those issues in order to get him signed up before the friendly with Preston this weekend.
