According to Juventus News 24, Newcastle have made contact with Aaron Ramsey in the past few days, as a Premier League return looks likely.

What’s the story?

Well, the £400,000-a-week man is having a tough time in Turin, and Newcastle look set to hand him a lifeline.

Juventus News 24 believe Ramsey is bottom of the pecking order in midfield under Massimiliano Allegri, and is set to leave in January.

It is also said that he wants to return to the Premier League.

The 69-cap Wales international’s contract expires in June, so Juventus must sell him this winter or they will lose him for nothing.

Juventus News 24 add that Newcastle will have no issue in picking up Ramsey’s extraordinary salary, due to the riches of their new owners.

With the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia owning a fortune worth £320bn, that isn’t much of a surprise to us.

So far this season, Ramsey has played just 98 minutes of football in Serie A, and only 14 minutes in the Champions League.

Would Aaron Ramsey be a good signing for Newcastle?

In our view, the 30-year-old would be a fantastic addition to the Toon Army.

Ramsey knows English football well, having scored 40 goals and provided 46 assists in 262 Premier League appearances for Arsenal.

That experience will be key for Newcastle, as they look likely to be battling relegation again this season.

While his wages are significant, the deal should also be a fairly cheap one in terms of a transfer fee, as he nears free agency.

You could also argue that Ramsey will be motivated with a point to prove, after his career took a huge dent over in Italy.

Keep an eye on this saga, as it looks like the ex-Cardiff man may well become a Newcastle player in January.
