Newcastle United are planning to deliver a blow to Celtic in their quest to sign Kyle Joseph, according to The Daily Mail.
It has been reported that Celtic held talks with Joseph’s representatives in February and were planning to sign the 19-year-old striker in the summer of 2021 for a compensation fee of £230,000.
However, Newcastle have now stepped in and are strong favourites to secure the services of the Wigan Athletic striker for a compensation fee of £850,000, according to the report, which has added that talks have gone well for the Magpies.
Promising talent
Joseph is only 19 years of age, and it is clear that the Scotland Under-19 international is not the finished article and has to work on his game to improve and develop further.
The teenager has had back injury this season as well, but when he has played, he has done well.

According to WhoScored, Joseph has made 12 starts and two substitute appearances in League One for Wigan so far this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process.
Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock, signed on loan from Arsenal, has sent a message to the fans on Instagram after scoring the equaliser against Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.
