Get French Football News claim Newcastle have made a ‘concrete approach’ to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa. However, despite his lack of game time, Kurzawa and his family are said to be happy in Paris.
Kurzawa, 29, has played just nine minutes of football for PSG and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are seemingly desperate to offload the France international. Nuno Mendes has pushed him down the pecking order.
Foot Mercato reported earlier in the window that West Ham had opened talks to bring Kurzawa to the club – but those talks have dried up. Now, GFFN claim that Newcastle have made an approach to sign Kurzawa.
Left-back is seemingly a priority for the Toon. Talks to sign Mitchel Bakker are said to have collapsed, while Robin Gosens is closing in on a move to Inter Milan. Newcastle have turned to Kurzawa, and opened talks.
Kurzawa to Newcastle: A deal makes sense for all parties, including PSG
The Foot Mercato report states that Kurzawa earns as much as £94,000 a week at PSG. So, a player that earns a huge amount of money – to have played just nine minutes this season – is certainly one they want gone.
Newcastle can certainly afford those wages – and given PSG are desperate to get rid of him, a fee would hardly be difficult to agree on. Kurzawa would join a club where he would be paid handsomely.
PSG would get him off the wage bill and despite his lack of game time, Kurzawa would easily be Newcastle’s best option at left-back. A move that suits all involved.
