TransferMarketWeb claim Newcastle and Southampton have approached Borussia Monchengladbach speed machine Patrick Herrmann, while Crystal Palace are also interested.

The 27-year-old, who is on the fringes of Gladbach’s starting line-up, is out of contract in the summer and could leave the Bundesliga outfit as part of a cut-price deal.

Herrmann is renowned for his electrifying pace on the right side of Gladbach’s defence, and has scored two goals and created two more in nine league appearances for the German side this season.

A two-time Germany international, Herrmann has played for Gladbach throughout his entire career. He has clocked up 282 appearances in all competitions – scoring 44 goals and creating another 47.

But he is set to leave the club with his contract expiring in a matter of months, and if Gladbach want to rake in some money for the winger, they will need to sell him this month.

Newcastle are seemingly in the market for a new winger with doubts over loanee Kenedy’s future at St. James’ Park. They have already been linked with Bordeaux wide man Francois Kamano and AC Milan’s Diego Laxalt.
