Newcastle United goalkeeper Rob Elliot could reportedly go out on loan to Derby County.

Carson has been an ever-present for the Rams this term, but it would appear that Lampard would prefer some much more experienced backup for the 33-year-old.
Kelle Roos has been on the bench for all 27 of Derby’s Championship fixtures this season. But the Dutchman is still awaiting his league debut for the club and has only made a handful of cup appearances at Pride Park since arriving from Nuneaton five years ago.

The 32-year-old – who earns £25,000-a-week, according to Spotrac – has not played for Rafa Benitez’s side this term. But he has been an excellent servant at St James’ Park, having done fairly well whenever he has been given a run in the side, with 16 appearances coming in the Premier League last season.
It appears to be a wise move from Lampard to try and get an experienced stopper in to provide support and competition for Carson. Blackburn Rovers are down in 14th and yet, just six points off Derby who occupy the final play-off spot.
With 19 games to go, Millwall down in 20th surely cannot be completely discounted from the race just yet. So adding depth to the squad seems to be a clever decision, and Elliot would arguably be a very shrewd signing this month.
