Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Jetro Willems again.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are once again interested in signing Frankfurt defender Jetro Willems during the January transfer window.
The Magpies are certainly in the market for another playmaker in January, with Miguel Almiron and Ritsu Doan mentioned as two potential targets.
However, another left back will be key too, as Paul Dummett needs some competition in that position, with Rafael Benitez left short whenever the Welshman is missing.
Now, the Daily Mail claim that Newcastle are keen to bring in Dutch left back Willems, who has been featuring in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Willems, 24, burst onto the scene with PSV Eindhoven before heading to Germany in 2017, and he has picked up 22 caps for the Netherlands since surprisingly being named in their Euro 2012 squad.
Willems maybe hasn’t fulfilled his potential, but he has pace and crossing ability, and should be the ideal competition for Dummett if Newcastle can beat Roma to his signature.

The links come some time after Newcastle first wanted Willems, with The Chronicle claiming in 2016 that scout Graham Carr wanted him at St James’ Park, but the Magpies delayed a move and ended up never trying again.
It’s also fascinating that Newcastle have wanted Frankfurt teammate Sebastien Haller, as noted by The Northern Echo, and a big double deal in January may be ideal for Benitez and co.
