Newcastle United are fighting Southampton for Nice striker Evann Guessand, according to the Daily Mail.
Guessand is currently on loan at Lausanne Sport in Switzerland, where his performances are attracting attention.
The 19-year-old has really hit the headlines since scoring a scorpion kick equaliser against FC Zurich, earning a 2-2 draw.
The French media have been going wild about the goal, comparing Guessand to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after that nonchalant finish.
Guessand is set to return to Nice this summer, but a move to the Premier League could yet be on the cards for the teenager.
His record in Switzerland may not look all that great, with seven goals and four assists in 31 league outings, but he has shown real potential.
Newcastle may feel that Guessand has real potential for the future, and they had great success in 2019 by raiding Nice for Allan Saint-Maximin, who also has pace and versatility in attack just like Guessand.
Finding another Saint-Maximin would be great for Newcastle, and at 19 he can support Callum Wilson and Joelinton up top without having immediate pressure to succeed.
