Newcastle United could face an anxious wait in the hope of landing Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster, according to the Daily Mirror.

Newcastle are part of a clutch of clubs who are chasing the Liverpool youngster, with Steve Bruce’s side wanting to take him on loan.

However, Jurgen Klopp is said to be in ‘no rush’ to decide where Brewster will end up this season.

The young forward has suggested that he wants to stay with Liverpool and fight for his place, but he is also open to a loan switch, if that is considered the best move for his development.

Klopp now apparently wants to see Brewster in pre-season training before deciding whether to keep him or not.

Klopp has previously told Planet Football that Brewster is ‘wonderfully skilled’, but his task of breaking into Liverpool’s first-team is not an easy one.

If Klopp feels that Brewster needs some more improvements before challenging for a first-team place, he may be given the green-light to join Newcastle, or another of his suitors.

Brewster scored prolifically in the Championship last term, and it is no surprise that Newcastle are keen on him.

The Magpies badly lacked in the striking department last term, with Jonjo Shelvey ultimately finishing as their top scorer.

Newcastle are now on the hunt for ways to add more goals to their side, and on a limited budget, bringing in Brewster on loan could be a smart move.
