According to Football Transfers, Newcastle United are interested in a move for Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.

The Portugal star has been at the centre of a lot of speculation in recent weeks after spending the majority of this season on the bench at the Wanda Metropolitano, and now, Newcastle are in the race to sign him.

This is a complicated transfer race to say the least.

Aston Villa have been linked by Marca this week, Newcastle are now keen, this report also states that Manchester United is his preferred destination, but it is also thought that a move to PSG is the most likely transfer for Felix at this point.

The race for Felix’s signature seems to be wide open, but there’s reason to believe that Newcastle could win out here.

At the age of just 23, Felix may well view Newcastle as a club that he can grow alongside, and given that Eddie Howe’s style of play is so exciting, he could thrive in this system.

The Magpies are in the market for a new creative attacker, and Felix would fit that bill to a tee.

The player apparently prefers a move to Manchester United, but with Newcastle being the richer club and higher in the Premier League right now, perhaps the Tyneside outfit could muscle in and get this one done.

So, what type of player would Newcastle be getting if they signed Felix?

The Portuguese star is a bag of tricks, he’s one of the most agile and nimble players you’re likely to ever see, and while he lacks a bit of a cutting edge, he has the skillset to be a star.

Just this week he was compared to Brazilian legend, Kaka, by Nigel De Jong after a strong World Cup showing against Switzerland – so that should tell you all you need to know about Felix.

Where this young man ends up remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure, the race for his signature will be very interesting.
