Newcastle United are reportedly keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the 37-time England international is one of the big names the Toon are eyeing. Newcastle were last week finally taken over by TIF, and Alli appears to be one of the names insight for the Premier League side.
Alli has been tentatively linked away from Spurs in recent months after a huge drop off in form following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino in 2019. And under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo, the midfielder is still struggling to regain the spark that made him one of England’s most exciting talents.
Indeed, it’s easy to forget just how brilliant Newcastle target Alli was to watch. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder once likened himself to ‘Gerrard and Yaya Toure’ in an interview with the FA. And for some time, the Spurs star looked the real deal.
However, the past few seasons have seen Alli regress. The midfielder is no longer part of the England set-up, and his time at Tottenham seems to be coming towards a sad end following an electric start to life in north London.
As well as Alli, Sport claim that Gareth Bale and Keylor Navas are also being watched by Newcastle as the Toon aim to dramatically improve the quality of the squad in the upcoming transfer windows.
Newcastle could be the perfect next step for Alli

Alli could do with a change of scenery. And Newcastle could present an opportunity for the former MK Dons star. With the Magpies now one of the richest clubs in world football, the finances of such a transfer would be no problem for the northeast side.
Moreover, Steve Bruce’s midfield is an area that is in dire need of improvements once the transfer window opens for business. And Alli could be the marquee signing to kick off this exciting new era for Newcastle.
