According to Christian Falk, Newcastle are interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller as they aim to stay in the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, this would be quite the statement from Newcastle.

Muller has been one of the best forwards in Europe for many years now, and has an incredible amount of trophies to his name.

Amazingly, the 110-cap Germany international has won ten Bundesliga titles, the World Cup, seven German Super Cups and two Champions League titles, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup and DFB-Pokal on two occasions.

There are few players around who are more decorated than the Bayern Munich No.25 – from those who have retired, or still playing.

The 32-year-old – who earns £296,000-a-week – has scored nine goals while impressively providing 20 assists in just 29 games this season.

Falk also states that Everton want to sign Muller, who becomes a free agent in June 2023.

Would Thomas Muller be a good signing for Newcastle?

Muller wouldn’t exactly be a fantastic long-term option for Eddie Howe, but if there’s even a 5% chance of this deal, Newcastle have to pounce on it.

There are few better than the German, specifically when it comes to providing assists.

Since 2008, only Lionel Messi has laid on more goals for his teammates than Muller in Europe’s top five leagues (Goal).

We highly doubt Muller will leave the Allianz Arena this month, so any move might hinge on Newcastle staying in the Premier League.

Having said that, we feel the German will sign a new contract with Bayern Munich, where he has spent his entire career.

In total, Muller has made 610 appearances for Bayern Munich, scoring 223 goals while also providing 238 assists – phenomenal numbers, to say the least.

Keep an eye on this saga, although we doubt it’ll end with anything other than a contract extension in Bavaria.
