According to Notícias ao Minuto, Newcastle are interested in signing Leicester prodigy Sidnei Tavares, who is currently enduring some frustration.
The 19-year-old has a strong desire for first-team football, although Brendan Rodgers is currently failing to satisfy his needs.
Tavares has just one first-team appearance for the Foxes under his belt, which came in last night’s Europa League defeat to Slavia Prague.
However, he wants more, and Leicester find themselves in a sticky situation as the teenager’s contract expires this summer.
Notícias ao Minuto add that Sporting Lisbon, Benfica, Sevilla, Almeria and OGC Nice are also keen on the Portugal Under-19 international.

In that respect, Newcastle face serious competition.
Elsewhere, The Sun believe that Barcelona are also keen to sign Tavares.
That would ramp the competition up significantly, given the pulling power of the Spanish giants.

In our view, it seems like the midfielder will leave the Midlands unless Rodgers gives him plenty of game time between now and the end of the season.
Again in our view, it seems unlikely this will happen, as Leicester have a serious opportunity to qualify for the Champions League.
As a result, Rodgers won’t want to be too charitable in handing out minutes to players who aren’t key first-team members.
