Newcastle United are reportedly continuing their pursuit of West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have offered Rolando Aarons in a part-exchange for West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon – but Dwight Gayle is being discussed.
The Magpies remain in the market for new signings this summer, having brought in goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, midfielder Ki Sung-yueng and wide man Kenedy, with very little money spent so far.
A key for manager Rafael Benitez is bringing in another striker, as Joselu and Dwight Gayle failed to score consistently last season, and Islam Slimani has returned to Leicester City.
West Bromwich Albion’s Salomon Rondon appears to be a top target, and the Daily Mail report that Newcastle are still attempting to get around paying his £16.5million release clause.
After offering a loan deal – which was unsurprisingly rejected – it’s stated that Newcastle have since offered winger Rolando Aarons in a part-exchange deal, which the Baggies have also snubbed.
However, striker Dwight Gayle is being discussed as part of a move, with Newcastle clearly attempting to find any way around giving the Baggies the £16.5million they’re looking for.

Gayle, 28, scored just six goals last season, but has proven himself in the Championship having hit 23 goals in Newcastle’s promotion-winning campaign, and should be far more appealing to the Baggies than injury-prone winger Aarons.
Powerful forward Rondon was a big signing for West Brom in 2015, and the 28-year-old Venezuelan has hit just 24 goals in 108 Premier League games, but fits the ill as a target man for Benitez – and he will be hoping that a part-exchange offer can seal a deal.
