Newcastle United are eyeing up a deal for West Bromwich Albion defender Kyle Bartley, the Telegraph report.
Bartley has impressed at West Brom this season, despite their struggles in the Premier League.
The central defender now has just one year left on his contract, and it is said that Newcastle are keeping close tabs on the situation, as they consider making a bid.
Bartley, who was hailed as a ‘natural’ leader during his time at Swansea City by Carlos Carvalhal (Wales Online), could apparently be made available in the summer.
Newcastle’s chances of landing him may depend on them surviving in the Premier League, though.

Burnley are also interested and a move to Sean Dyche’s men could appeal more to Bartley, if Newcastle fail to stay up.
At the moment the Magpies are sat just above the relegation zone, but they have been in awful form for months now, and the two point gap between them and safety is not enough to make them feel comfortable.
